Now that the holidays are over, most of us are left with a tighter waistband and a depleted bank account. Not forgetting the long nights and unpleasant weather, of course. No wonder many people think that January is the most depressing month of the year.
We say it doesn’t have to be that way! One of our guided walking holidays is the perfect way to get back up to speed after the festive flop, without having to endure harsh diets or crowded gyms. Here’s why.
Try something new
With over 200 holidays in 82 countries, we’re pretty confident we can take you to somewhere you’ve never been before. And on one of our trips, you’ll get off the tourist trail and experience the country as it truly is. Your tour leader will help you to meet local people and immerse yourself in their culture.
Burn off the festive flab
You can pick a holiday that suits your level of fitness and how many mince pies you need to walk off! Even at the easier end – with most days spent sightseeing in cities, for example – you’ll walk several miles a day. That’ll take you pretty close to the 10,000 steps that most doctors recommend you do each day, and will certainly help you to fit back into your jeans again.
Get back to healthy eating
On all of our holidays we make sure that you have plenty of opportunities to try the local food. Wherever you go, that’ll surely be healthier than the typical Christmas fare. And as all our holidays have main meals included. You won’t have to do any cooking – or washing up.
Get some vitamin D
Sunshine is hard to find in the UK in January, particularly in the northern parts, but lots of our holidays take you to places with much more pleasant weather at this time of year. You’ll find details of five of them here and we’ve got plenty more where they came from.
Something for everyone
Wherever you want to go, and whatever you like to do, we’ve got a trip that’s right for you. City sightseeing, scenic landscapes, coasts and countryside, hills and mountains… we’ve got them all. And our holidays cover a wide range of grades too, from gentle strolling to serious challenges. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing city-break or a once-in-a-lifetime ‘bucket list’ experience, we think you’ll find it here.
It beats rice crackers and the treadmill, that’s for sure.
If we’ve inspired you to make the start of the year just as much fun as the holiday season, why not take a look at some of our 2020 holidays.
We hope to see you soon.
